Our Story

Growing up, we saw how powerful art could be—especially for those who experience the world a little differently. A close friend of ours had an intellectual disability, and we were always struck by how empowered they felt while creating. Art gave them confidence, joy, and a sense of voice beyond words. That moment stayed with us. It inspired the idea for CreateAbility Camp: a space where more young people can feel seen, capable, and celebrated through art and self-expression.

Through our work with Digitally Lit—a non-profit that promotes Nova Scotia books, authors, and illustrators—we built strong connections with publishers and creatives across Atlantic Canada. In November 2024, we submitted a proposal for CreateAbility Camp to the Vimy Inspires Tomorrow grant. After finalizing our idea in April 2025, we were thrilled to be selected as one of the three winning projects.
